These chairs were not originally made like this. The high backs have been added for extra support on the back and neck. Yes, you've guessed right, these are chairs for the aged, the frail and the ones with back, hip or even knee issues. Nice new stiff sponge, newly upholstered and painted, clean and in a beautiful condition. Not really chairs to relax in but more formal upright chairs for times when you need to have a conversation with someone.
