A beautiful vintage trilogy opal and diamond ring, this 9ct yellow gold ring features 3 x opals totaling 0,16 carats and 4 x 1mm diamonds. The larger central opal is oval cut with a textured 'X' in gold on either side separating it from two round cut opals. Two round cut diamonds sit top and bottom in the 'X'. The opals have a beautiful iridescence, that combined with the sparkle of the diamonds make a lovely show on the hand. The narrow shaft ends in claws that hold the gemstones and provide some openwork interest. A vintage piece, the ring is marked 1951 so we know it is 65 years old. I must point out that sadly the central opal has a chip - actually a flake - out of it; Important for me to disclose but it cannot be seen without a magnifying glass. I tried to show it in the photographs but it is hard to see even with the camera macro-lens. Hallmarked 375 for 9ct gold, the Birmingham assay mark, the jeweller's signature and the date mark for 1951, the ring is well pedigreed.
