This is a classic, mid-century style BEECHWOOD clothes brush designed for the maintenance of suits, coats, and upholstery. The brush features a contoured wooden handle with a smooth, varnished finish and a dense head of natural bristles. It is an essential tool for removing lint, dust, and hair from delicate fabrics without the use of adhesives.

PROVENANCE AND HISTORY The reverse of the handle features a distinctive circular ink stamp. While it resembles a "25 cents" price mark, such stamps were frequently used in the mid-20th century as factory batch codes or "shop-floor" pricing for general household hardware.

The construction suggests a production date between the 1950s and 1970s. During this era, high-quality valet brushes were standard in most households, often manufactured in European timber hubs. The bristles are likely BOAR HAIR or a HORSEHAIR blend; natural bristles are preferred for quality valet tools because they possess a microscopic "scale" structure that effectively traps dust and lifts it away from the fabric weave, unlike synthetic nylon alternatives.

CONDITION AND DETAILS

  • MATERIAL: Solid Beechwood handle with natural animal hair bristles.

  • DIMENSIONS: Approximately 22.5cm x 6.5cm x 3cm.

  • STAMP: Partial circular ink stamp on the back of the handle.

  • STATE: Excellent vintage condition. The bristles are firm and well-retained, and the wood shows only minor surface wear consistent with age.
