2012. Soft cover; 148 pages. Very good condition. Tightly bound, neat and clean. Title page removed. Under 1kg
Book documenting the struggle for 'the right to the city' during Apartheid, looking particularly at a group of Nyanga squatters who, in 1982, took refuge in St Georges Cathedral and fasted for 24 days to highlight their plight.
The title of the book references the imaginary line that was created with the passing of the Coloured Labour Preference Policy in 1955. The line ran between the eastern and western part of the Western Province and placed limits on the number of African people who could access jobs, housing, land and education within a part of the Western Cape.
