Author: David McKay, Hardbound, 222 Pages, 1st Edition, 1960

Here is not only the story of one of Australia's famous professional racing, trial and road-test drivers (sec back flap), but the exciting story of the growth of motor sport in Australiafrom the early M.G. days to the big trials and highspeed racing of today.
The reader will meet on intimate terms many famous identities, including Fangio, Moss, Brabham, Hawthorn,--Davison-,- - Whiteford, Cobden, Mildren, Jones and Pitt; and discover the thrills of driving a wide range of cars, such as the Volkswagen, Simca, Peugeot, Ford, Sunbeam, Porsche, Jaguar, M.G., Aston Martin, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo etc.
Sixty photographs accompany the text and these include some of the Australian circuits and one of the Australian Jockey Club's proposed layout for the Warwick Farm circuit.
Whether your interest lies in actual participation or being a spectator, or even if you have but a mild interest in motoring, this book will certainly increase your enthusiasm.
David McKay is one of the very few racing drivers in Australia who, without large financial backing at the outset, has managed to make motor sport a career. That he has succeeded is demonstrated in his record since July, 1956.
Out of 40 open races entered, he scored-31 firstsĀ 3 secondsĀ 1 third
He holds two Australian National Class records (in Aston Martin and Porsche). In 1957-58, driving the ex-Moss Aston Martin, McKay won seven out of eight major sports car races, including the Australian Tourist Trophy; and in 1960 he won the Australian Touring Car Championship in his 3.4 Jaguar.
In addition to his motor-sport activities, David McKay road-tests cars for the Sydney Sunday Telegraph and Modern Motor magazine
