Beloved African by Jill Baker
A fascinating biography of one of Zimbabwe's most controversial educational pioneers. At the turn of the century John Hammond began forging one of the most competent and far sighted educational systems on the continent of Africa. Hammond's program of education provided schooling for both blacks and whites and eventually produced many of Zimbabwe's founding black nationalists.

Binding: Hard cover with dust jacket

Book Condition: Good

Edition: First 2000

Pages: 464

We  have a large selection of Rhodesiana as my mother - Lynne Ruth Robertson Greeff - was an avid collector of Rhodesiana. She was born (1935) and grew up in Bulawayo as part of the large John MacDonald Family Clan. Her brother, John MacDonald Robertson, was a well-known Harare economist.  When she was 23 she visited Cape Town and met my father. She grew to love Cape Town but was forever homesick for the bushhveld. Inheriting her collection of 3000+ Africana books is what started my adventure as a book dealer.
