Ben 10 Protector of Earth Nintendo DS

Ben 10: Protector of Earth on the Nintendo DS is a 2.5D side-scrolling action-platformer and beat-'em-up game based on the popular animated series. Players control Ben Tennyson as he travels across the United States with his cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max to recover stolen Omnitrix DNA samples and prevent the villain Vilgax from sucking Earth into the Null Void. 

Gameplay Mechanics

The core gameplay involves a mix of combat, platforming, and simple puzzle-solving, with a strategic focus on using Ben's alien forms. 

• Alien Transformations: Using the Omnitrix (operated via the touchscreen), Ben can transform into various aliens, each with unique abilities necessary for progression. Initially, transformations are time-limited, but "Master Control" is unlocked later, allowing infinite use.
• Combat: The game features a simple combo system with light, heavy, and special attacks for each alien. Players strategically choose the right alien for different enemies and scenarios.
• Puzzles and Platforming: Levels incorporate environmental obstacles that require specific alien powers to overcome. For instance, Four Arms moves heavy objects, Heatblast melts ice barriers, Cannonbolt launches from ramps, XLR8 crosses large gaps, and Upgrade merges with machines to activate platforms.
• Progression and Collectibles: Players can collect Omnitrix points to unlock stronger attack combos and upgrade alien abilities. Hidden "Sumo Slammer" cards and "Plumber Ranks" (awarded for speed runs) unlock bonus content like character viewers and movie clips.
• Boss Battles: Levels typically end with boss fights that sometimes include quick-time events for executing special attacks. 

Storyline

The story follows the events of the original animated series: A mosquito-like drone drains much of the Omnitrix's power, scattering the alien DNA samples. Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max embark on a journey in the Rustbucket to various U.S. locations, battling classic series villains such as Kevin 11, Dr. Animo, and Vilgax's minions, to retrieve the lost powers and stop the ultimate plan to destroy Earth. 

Visuals and Sound

The DS version features a 2.5D perspective, utilizing a visual style that faithfully mirrors the cartoon's look, complete with simple comic-book-style cutscenes. The game includes voice acting from the show's cast and a catchy soundtrack, enhancing its authenticity for fans.
