Description
Virginie Efira stars as 17-century nun Benedetta Carlini in this French drama directed by Paul Verhoeven. Based on a true story, the film follows Benedetta as she embarks on an illicit love affair with new arrival Bartolomea (Daphne Patakia), a peasant who seeks refuge in the Tuscan convent after fleeing her abusive family. Meanwhile, the devout nun attracts the ire of her fellow Theatine sisters for her claims of saintliness and visions of Christ.
