"BETWEEN THE SUNLIGHT AND THE THUNDER: THE WILD LIFE" OF KENYA BY NOEL SIMON. HARDCOVER, DUST JACKET HAS MINOR WEAR AND TEAS SHOWN IN PICTURE, 384 PAGES, 1962, PREVIOUS OWNER'S NAME ON FEP, IN GOOD USED CONDITION.
Within the last eighty years, human interference has upset the natural balance of East African wild life disastrously. Only now are people beginning to realise - perhaps too late - what the consequences are likely to be. Seven species of large animals, flourishing before 1900, are now extinct. The vast herds of game, until recently one of the world's great spectacles, are disappearing - and with them the chief support of newly-emancipated populations. Imported strains of domestic cattle are turning pasture into desert by their wasteful feeding, which leaves less food all round and a progressively faster rate of erosion and starvation.
