This is an older roadbike. Mechanically sound, but not suitable for competitive racing, since the gear ratio is not flexible enough. It is a pleasure to ride though. It runs silent and the gears works fine. I need to sell the bike for funding of a project..It is an ideal bike for a beginner who wants to join a cycling group and want to go through a test period to see if cycling is for you.Once you start competing, you will need something better. The frame has scratches, but is made of alluminium and has no rust. The saddle on the photo will be replaced with a cheaper entry level saddle. Where do you buy a bike for less than R1000,with alumin frame, convenient shifters, quickreleases???This bike does not require special skill to ride, just caution. The ease with which I can accelerate with this light frame gives me a "thrill" and motivates me to cycle harder. It is ideal for loosing weight.BUT This bike has thin wheels,so you need a tarmic road, relatively free of stones and potholes.Otherwise you can easily damage the tube or buckle the wheel. So you need to exercise more caution when using this bike ,otherwise you end up every second day with a wheel-fix-problem.You must be at least 1.68 tall ,otherwise you will be uncomfortable on the bike. It has quick release wheels and saddle,so you can dismantle it quickly to put in the boot of your car.It has normal paddles, that does not require special shoes. It has one water bottle holder..Gears needs to be tuned a little , because it sometimes skip a gear.It does not "grrrr" after you change gears like those entry level mountain bike gears, the chain runs smoothly. Gears can be changed to all the extreme sprockets on the bike. This means the gear-shifters work. The gearshifters is mounted on the brake levers,so its very convenient to change gears. If you paddle behind someone else, this type of gears is important to avoid accidents. You cannot compare this bike with the newer R10 000 bikes, but it is certainly great value for less than a thousand bucks. The gearsshifting system consist of those short levers mounted on the handlebar ,the cables and the two jockeys next to the sprockets. This shifter-system of this racer is outdated and if it becomes worn in a few years, you cannot repair it or replace single components. However the shifters does not brake completely,it will gradually "deteriorate" and require a second/third "shift" to get it into the required gear. It will not let you down, without warning you for a long period . Even then you will still be able to cycle, just not with all the extreme gears to your disposal. Worst scenario is you must replace shifters with those R100 entry level shiftersets, that operates seperately from the brakelevers. just less convenience, but same functionallity.
