First Edition/ Eerste Uitgawe, Derde duisend/ Third Thousand. Rebound at spine in neat red matching red cloth, such that binding now solid . Two neat punch holes on the side  of the text leaves going through the booklet, but inside is free of marking and staple binding is solid. This is the extremely scarce first book of poetry by Totius. An extremely rare piece of Africana in good condition. According to the emotional foreword by President M. T. Steyn (which has his facsimile signature ), Totius donated the entire proceeds of this book to the fund for the building of the Nasionale Vrouemonument outside Bloemfontein. Fundraising began in 1908, the year this book was published, and the monument was eventually finished in 1912. Seller Inventory # 58219
