What Is EZ Fuel & Who Should Be Taking It
Bioteen is ideally suited for Teen Athletes looking for an easy to use fast-digesting source of protein and carbohydrates before their next training session, workout or game. The International Society of Sports Nutrition recommendation on nutrient timing is that there is a greater benefit of consuming a combination of proteins and carbohydrates before training rather than carbohydrates alone.
The Science (How EZ Fuel Works)
Protein:
Slow and Fast Digesting Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are the most important pre-training macronutrient as it serves to top up energy levels before exercise. Essential to our pre-training formulations is a carbohydrate blend that:
- Digests and absorb easily without stressing the digestive system.
- Contains both fast and slow energy sources. The inclusion of a slow energy source helps to prevent a drop in blood sugar (reactive hypoglycaemia) which can happen if only fast-absorbing sources are consumed. Reactive hypoglycaemia greatly impacts energy levels.
Palatinose:
Palatinose provides its energy in a more steady way, with a lower rise in blood glucose levels over longer time. These unique properties, allow for a greater reliance on fat oxidation and the sparing of glycogen during exercise.
Derived from sugar beet and also found in honey Palatinose, like sucrose, is a fully digestible disaccharide-type carbohydrate composed of glucose and fructose. Yet, as a result of its stronger linkage, it provides carbohydrate energy in a more steady and sustained way, with less effect on blood glucose levels and insulin.
Maltodextrin:
Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate that digests and absorbs rapidly. Contrary to simple sugars (e.g. fructose, glucose and sucrose), Maltodextrin does not stress the digestive system. Maltodextrin is used in EZ Fuel as a fast source of energy in combination with Palatinose to provide sustained energy during training.
Multivitamin and Mineral Blend
EZ fuel contains a blend of vitamins and minerals in sufficient quantities to contribute to energy-yielding metabolism, immune system support and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
