The genus Tacca, which includes the Bat flowers and Arrowroot, consists of ten species of flowering plants in the order Dioscoreales, native to tropical regions of Africa, Australia, and south-eastern Asia. Several species are cultivated as ornamental plants for their bold foliage and large flowers.

Tacca chantrieri is another "must have" for any collector of weird and wonderful plants. In Malaysia they call it the Devil's Flower and strange, fascinating stories surround it. Originating, no doubt, from the wicked way the eyes in the bloom seems to be following your every move.
