Build, harvest, trade and grow your woodland estate in the heart of the Black Forest.

A deep resource-management eurogame from Uwe Rosenberg and Tido Lorenz.

A strategic Black Forest board game where players develop estates, manage resource wheels, build glass huts, raise livestock and expand through clever worker-style village actions.

Product Description

Step into the Black Forest, where glassmaking, farming and forest life shape every decision.

In Black Forest, you begin with a small woodland estate and slowly grow it into a productive domain. Travel between villages, visit skilled tradespeople, collect resources, construct buildings, place landscapes, raise pigs and cattle, and improve your glass hut as your estate expands.

The game brings back Uwe Rosenberg's famous resource wheels, giving each turn a satisfying puzzle of timing, production and planning. Basic resources such as wood, sand, water, charcoal, meat and porridge can shift into refined resources like glass, provisions and commodities, so every gain and spend matters.

With many buildings, different estate layouts, livestock scoring and multiple routes to victory, Black Forest is ideal for players who enjoy thoughtful eurogames with rich resource management and long-term planning. The rulebook also confirms solo play support, with a dedicated cuckoo clock solo setup and score-chasing system.

Good to Know

  • Black Forest continues the world and feel of Glass Road, but it is its own standalone game.
  • You do not need Glass Road to play Black Forest.
  • The game uses two personal resource wheels to track and produce resources.
  • Players score mainly through buildings, glass, small estates, livestock on pastures and end-game building effects.
  • Best suited for players who enjoy planning ahead, managing production chains and building efficient engines.
  • This is a deeper strategy game, so it is better for experienced players than casual family party play.

Care & Maintenance

  • Store the cardboard tiles, buildings and resource markers neatly after play to keep setup smooth.
  • Keep the boards and components dry, and avoid bending the player tableaus or resource wheels.
