Black People, You Have No God to Thank is not an argument intended to deny the existence of God, attack Christianity, or incite racism against white people.
It is a deliberate provocationa challenge to people of African descent to examine the stories, assumptions and explanations they have inherited, particularly concerning faith, slavery, colonialism and liberation.
The purpose is to provoke a different way of thinking.
If human beings played a decisive role in ending systems of oppression, then human beings also have the capacity to confront the problems that still limit Black communities today.
The article asks readers to distinguish faith from history, prayer from action, and belief from documented events.
It challenges people of African descent to stop waiting for someone else to solve every problem and begin thinking their way toward economic freedom, educational freedom, political freedom, intellectual freedom, institutional freedom and personal freedom.
This is not a call to hate white people.
It is not a call to reject God.
It is a call to think.
The title is intentionally provocative because comfortable questions rarely produce uncomfortable discoveries.
The reader is not being told what to believe.
The reader is being challenged to question, investigate, think independentlyand ultimately decide for themselves.
Think your way to freedom.
