Land claims have got the community of New Scotland in Mpumalanga up in arms. Tensions boil over in a community that’s been through a lot over the years.

There’s Erin, a city girl who has to return to support her family, Andrew Buchanan, an ex-recce whose family was slaughtered years ago, the upper-crust MacFarlanes with their luxurious farms, workers with grudges and connections in high places and the local police force – sometimes honest and scrupulous, sometimes not – and the no-nonsense sergeant Elsie Redelinghuys who has to get to the bottom of things when a well-known farmer is murdered . . .
