You can now enter the SA Champs which is being held in Cape Town from 3rd to 5th March 2011.

Blokart sailing comprises of a light and compact three wheeled buggy and a sail of anything from 2 m to 5.5m in length.  Absolutely anyone can fit into the comfortable sling seat, with your legs stretched out in front of you, take hold of the steering bar and sheet rope and set off along the beach, through the grass park or around a tennis court or car park, at night!  Unlike kite boarding or wind surfing after 5 minutes of briefing on controls and safety you can be on your way.  All you require is some wind and the will for thrill.

The Blokart packs up into its own carry bag. Compact and portable - it only weighs 29kg including the sail - and fits into most car boots.  Assembly takes less than 5 minutes and you are ready to go.  For the adventure seeker you can join other sailing enthusiasts and set off on long journeys across far reaching horizons. 

The Blokart can easily have the handy addition of a ‘shadow’ clipped on (similar to a motorcycle side car) into which you can load drinks and luggage for the journey or a friend who wants to come along for the ride.  Young children can also join in the fun as they can safely be seated in the shadow, which does not require any controls.

Your speed, which can be anything up to 96km per hour, is controlled by your handling of the sail by way of tightening or loosening the sheet rope and steering into the wind for less resistance.  Racing along the beach on two wheels with the wind in your sails is an exhilarating experience.  The Blokart turns by moving the steering bar and releasing the sheet rope, letting the boom cross above your head (no need to duck out of the way) enabling you to return to your starting point, or enjoy the challenge of timed races around a set track. As long as the wind is blowing you are having extreme fun.

Races will be held in local clubs being set up all over South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique and when you get really good you can compete in the World championships!

Remember this is a ONE class sport so all competitors can only use the same specification blokart and so winning comes from skill and nerve!
