Melanin, the natural sunshade for our skin A person¿s skin colour is determined by the pigment ¿melanin¿. It is produced by specialised skin cells, the melanocytes, and is the natural UV protector for the skin.
The different skin types all have the same melanin pigment, but also the same number of melanocytes. Skin colour is determined purely by the activity of the melanocytes. This activity is predetermined by genetic factors and can be additionally stimulated by extreme factors (e.g. sunlight, hormones, etc). skin types Melanin protects us and gives us our individual appearance.
The number of melanocytes is the same in all skin types. It is simply the quantity of melanin produced that determines the colour of our skin, hair and eyes How is Pigmentation Stimulated? meloconytes Tyrosinase an enzyme is stimulated through a complex pathway by Hormones or Pollutants (sun, air pollutants, acids, and strong spices) This enzyme then stimulates the Melanocytes to produce Pigmentation which then follows the pathway as described above. Inhibition of the melanin transport The melanocytes are the skin¿s pigment producers.
They produce themelanin and pack it in melanosomes. The pigments formed are then exported to neighbouring keratinocytes. The contact between melanocyte and keratinocytes is made via dendritic branches. Under normal circumstances, one melanocyte supplies some 36 keratinocytes. Vitamin B3 Vitamin B3 inhibits the melanosome transfer from the melanocytes to the keratinocytes.
The pigmentation of the epidermis is reduced. Essential Boost Factor One of the problems of pigmentation is that the Melanasomes travel to the surface of the skin and attract each other to combine to form a clump of pigment. Essential Boost factor produce pigment gaps (synapses) ¿ like fire breaks, which prevent the Melanasomes clumping together, thereby evenly distributing the pigmentation across the skin surface. Essential Cell Boost-Factor The Essential Cell Boost-Factor supports the formation of cell adhesion proteins and promotes the uniform pigment distribution in the skin. CellActive®- WHITE has been specially developed for gentle skin lightening.
The balanced combination of Vitamin B3, sulphurous extract of watercress and bio-available zinc provides a naturally lighter complexion. The Essential Cell Boost-Factor promotes the homogeneous pigment distribution in the skin for a generally more uniform lighter appearance.
