BLUE LACE AGATE L 138mm W 58mm H 80mm 0.580grams

Blue lace Agate belongs to the chalcedony family, which is a type of microcrystalline quartz. The distinctive blue colour of blue lace Agate is attributed to the presence of trace amounts of minerals like copper, manganese and iron. The intricate banding or lacy patterns result from the deposition of these minerals in fine layers within the chalcedony. The formation of blue lace Agate is closely tied to the volcanic activity and subsequent weathering processes it typically occurs in the cavities or vesicles of volcanic rocks such as basalt.

The initial formation involves the deposition of silica- rich fluids into these cavities over time the silica crystallizes and forms the intricate bands and patterns cheracteristic of blue lace Agate.

The colours and patterns vary based on factors such as the specific mineral content, impurities and conditions during the formation process. The banding is often a result of alternating layers of different compositions.
