Blue Lace Agate is a delicate variety of banded chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz (SiO).
It forms in cavities of volcanic rocks as silica-rich fluids cool and crystallize.
Its light blue and white lace-like bands come from layered silica deposits mixed with trace minerals.
With a Mohs hardness of 6.57, Blue Lace Agate is strong and durable.
It has a waxy to vitreous luster and appears translucent to opaque.
Major deposits are found in Namibia, South Africa, and Brazil.
Scientifically admired for its distinct banding and purity of silica.
