" Introduction

Bob Connoly's "Persaonalities" which appear each day in the "Rand Daily Mail" are only rivalled by his daily political cartoons for the public interest.

Before he has penned his last stroke, he will have portrayed every man of distinction on the rand in his own indominitable style, and you may be assured, the sketch Bob Connolly draws is a speaking likeness of the personality under review.

I have been following his cartoons ever since they first appeared, and I am sure only Bob Connolly could have caught just that characteristic look of my friends and given them that 'aliveness' which makes the cartoon more lifelike than a photograph.

The rand is populous with men of distinction and Bob Connolly is doing an admirable thing in bringing them in this graphic way before the public view. In going a step further by publishing a selected group of these "Personalities" in book form, he is fulfilling a want of long duration.
