Sapper, No.2 Armoured Train – S.A.E.C. and
Private, Railway Regiment – WWI


- Queens South Africa Medal with Transvaal clasp (renamed)
- Kings South Africa Medal with clasps S.A. 1901 and 1902 (renamed)
- 1914/15 Star to Sapper H.A. Hatton, S.A.E.C.
- British War Medal to Pte. H.A. Hatton, Railway Regt.
- Allied Victory Medal to Sapper H.A. Hatton, S.A.E.C.

Hatton lost a son who fought at Delville Wood. He also kept a diary of his time with the Railway Regiment during the 1914 rebellion - a precursor to South Africa's entry into German South West Africa.

With plenty of research including his service papers.
