Extremely rare item. Boer War British emergency ration tin with full contents still present. The can is dated 01-00 (January 1900). Some others in existence dated 10-99 (Oct 1899). These rations were made by Bovril in London. Consists of two parts, the top part of dried beef and bottom part of cocoa. During the war it was only to be opened on command of an officer. Some original blue paint and a small piece of the original label is still present on the tin. Added with the pictures is a photograph of a reproduction tin next to an original to show what the labelling looked like.( also see video on You tube) Last original tin on auction in Britain was sold for GBP300 (R6000).
