This piece remains in a GOOD, USED CONDITION- Leather remains supple , but does display visible signs of Age-related surface wear. All press Studs , buckles and tabs are present. ** Note :  Item is over 120 years old and is SECOND-HAND , INTENDED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

An EXCELLENT example of a Boer War (1899-1902) , Pattern 1897 British Officer's Leather Mounted Infantry  Sam Browne Belt. This piece remains in a well-preserved state and is largely complete. The Patt.1897 Belt was issued to Officer's serving in all formations during the Conflict. The Belt chape has been shortened by the original owner , as customary amongst shorter Troops on horseback. The Brass Sword retention hook has been flattened to reduce snagging on Leather horse gear.  Item was received as part of a larger lot of Boer War Era Leather personal equipment.  Belt has been inscribed with the details  :   N.M.  Dougall .   ** NOTE : THIS PIECE IS OVER 120 YEARS OLD & HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO USAGE IN COMBAT CONDITIONS.**
