A fully deactivated Boer War era 1902 production BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Factory) Lee Enfield MK. I* in very good condition condition, with absolutely no rust to the metal work.. The rear sight along with the front sight is present and complete, and the magazine cut-off is present as well. The top handguard is cracked, but is held in place by the fore-stock. These top hand guards are rarely found intact. All stock components are in a good condition and well oiled, but show handling marks and wear as to be expected for a piece of its age. There is a small crack at the nose of the fore stock, but this can be easily repaired. The trap door on the butt plate opens, but can be a bit stiff. The markings on the nocks form suggest that this rifle had been issued to the Railway police at some point in its life. The rifle is covered in British proof marks and War department stamps, as would be expected. The barrel is drilled, and the bolt is welded.
