1902 Boer War POW registered cover from Merebank POW camp, Natal, with diamond-shaped censor cachet - "Passed Censor / Merebank' - and another censor stike, franked with 2 x 2d and 1 x 1d Natal adhesives, with "P.O.A. 73" strike (Merebank) addressed to T. S. Leask, Klerksdorp, Transvaal. The cover was routed via Durban (23/01/1902) and Johannesburg Registered Office (24/01/1902) - see strikes on reverse.
Thomas Spence Leask was regarded as the "Father of Wolmaransstad" and became famous for his Wolmaransstad V.R.I. overprinted ZAR stamps. Leask also operated a trading store at Klerksdorp.
