This very scarce variation of a brass Boer War pocket knife has impressed wording across the large blade that I haven't come across before, which is not easy to read - '..?BRECHT BROS KEIMOES' (Keimoes is a small town on the Orange River.) It was made in 'Solingen' Germany by manufacturers 'G. FELIX' and distributed by 'HOCHSCHILD & Co.' It has the portraits of Paul Kruger and General De Wet on the one side and the early flags of the Transvaal and Orange Free State on the other, all in relief, as well as the engraved phrase 'Eendracht Maakt Macht.' The base of the blades are impressed with 'G. FELIX SOLINGEN' 'HOCHSCHILD & CO, SOLE AGENTS FOR SOUTH AFRICA.' Other than the small blade missing its tip, it is in a very good used condition.
