A silver napkin ring made by a prisoner-of-war at the Bellevue Camp, Cape Town in 1902. The outside is engraved "Pieter" and the inside is engraved "made by P. of W. , Bellevue Camp, 1902". After the capture of Boers at the Battle of Elandslaagte on the 21st October 1899 it was realized that no provision had been made to house prisoners-of-war and a camp was established at Bellevue, Simon's Town, on the 4th February 1900. This camp was thus the first prisoner of war camp for the Boer War.
