Very little information is known with regards to the Maritzburg Ambulance Corp . From the information below it can be deduced that the Corp did most of their service upon a hospital ship.

The Maritzburg Ambulance Corp was raised in connection with the Maritzburg Rifle Association & were accepted for service at Fort Napier after the Battle of Colenso (circa 15th of December 1899).They were then transferred to the Hospital Ship, the "Nubia" ( SEE SCAN OF LETTER BELOW)

During the Anglo Boer War various ships, haboured in Durban, were converted into Hospitals .One of these ship was the "Nubia". ( SEE SCANS BELOW)

Staff upon the "Nubia" included the Maritzburg Ambulance Corps ( SEE SCAN BELOW)

On the 5th of January 1900 the ship was ready to receive wounded & sick patients from Spoin Kop, Ladysmith etc ( SEE SCAN BELOW) The ship then left Durban on the 31st of March to return the wounded & sick to England

On the 5th of March 1900 a letter(Copy) was written to Colonel Hime in Maritzburg offering the services of the Maritzburg Ambulance Corps.( SEE SCAN OF LETTER BELOW)
