Boer War Scarce 15pr 'Mk II' Shrapnel Shell (12-Groove)

This scarce, very early, British '15pr - Mk II' (inert) artillery shrapnel shell with its copper driving band (12 Groove), is in great condition, considering its age. This British shell was manufactured at the 'Royal Laboratories', Woolwich Arsenal in 1898 and has the scarce '12 Groove' copper driving band around the base, which I've learnt were fired by the older 'Royal Field Artillery' (R.F.A.) guns. The projectile or shell has a brass screw-off section (part of the timer?) which has a few markings around it: '11/98 - R^L - IV and 353', and the base is stamped '15 PR II S - R.L and F.' The shell or projectile has been deactivated and has no contents, it stands 27,5cm high, has a diameter of 7,5cm and weighs a heavy 2,97kg.
