Boer War: St John Ambulance Brigade Medal for South Africa

The St John Ambulance Brigade Medal for South Africa.  Awarded to those Members of the Brigade who Served During the Boer War.  Reference: Medal Yearbook No. 153

Engraved on the edge in upright capital letters: "943. PTE J. WALKER. CLITHEROE DIV."  The reverse shows the coat of arms of the order with: "SOUTH AFRICA 1899 1902". The flowers which flank the arms are St. John's Wort.

Bronze (as all are).  Diameter 38.4 mm (standard for full sized medals).  Slight wear.  A few stains.  Obverse rim bump at 4 o'clock.  The corded silk ribbon is correct but appears to be a modern replacement.  This is a scarce Boer War Medal with a reported issue of 1,871.
