BOER WAR VASE MACINTYRE GENTLEMAN IN KHARKI - KIPLING POEM- ABSENT MINDED BEGGAR /stores/viewstore.aspx This is a very unusual item - a vase made to commemorate the Boer War in South Africa (1899-1902). Depicts a soldier on one side - entitled "A Gentleman in Kharki"; signed R. Caton Woodville 1899. (Richard Caton Woodville was a noted war reporter and artist). On the other side of the cup, and on the saucer, is the poem "The Absent-minded Beggar" by Rudyard Kipling
