Reverse: There are three varieties. All have the Prince of Wales Plumes: three feathers through a coronet dividing the motto: "ICH (left) DIEN (right) on a ribbon. Below that, on a ribbon: "IMPERIAL YORKSHIRE (draped downwards surrounding a number) YEOMANRY" Number: "66". Legend below: "1900 . SOUTH AFRICA . 1901".
The type 3 medals were awarded to those who had served in the 66th (Yorkshire) Company with the 16th Imperial Yeomanry Battalion. The 66th Company was raised 1900 and co-sponsored by Yorkshire Hussars and Queen's Own Yorkshire Dragoons. The Company was transferred in 1902 to 3rd Battalion but it appears than none of its members was awarded a type 2 medal.”
