Book and wrapper still in a good condition even though it belonged to a library before. >>> The first book in the Pamplemousse series - M. Pamplemousse, former Agent of the Surete and current restaurant critic, visits the hotel of an up-and-coming chef expecting fine food and rest, but when he is served up the head (which, fortunately is plastic) of a fellow guest, he realizes that something is amiss. As the plot unravels (and features, in some order, a libidinous hotel concierge, a dim-witted local policeman, a strange gag about wooden legs and an inflatable sex dummy) I almost lost track of what was going on, but it doesn't matter. The characters are fun and some of the action is hilarious. >>> Introduces an undercover agent for France's preeminent culinary guidebook who, with his dog Pommes Frites (French for slap tjips), investigates the causes and consequences of a most bizarre dinner. >>> I found this really amusing book because it was so out of the ordinary, there was so much happening that made me feel surprised that it was a light hearted and entertaining read. It is not a very serious book and you also get the perspective of the dog Pomme Frites. If you are looking for something unusual, read this. >>> Thomas Michael Bond, CBE (born 13 January 1926) is an English author, best known for his Paddington Bear series of books.
