This is a distinct genus of evergreen coniferous tree in the cypress family Cupressaceae, containing only one species, Playcladus orientalis, also known as Chinese thuja, Oriental arborvitae, chinese arborvitae, biota or oriental thuja.  

This tree can make an ideal bonsai.
