An EXCELLENT example of Border War, 1970s SADF Nutria Nylon Nat. Serviceman's Groundsheet/ Shelter Half with fittings. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with 6 x detailed Woven Nylon retention handles and press Studs along the panels. All retention eyelets appear to be present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Nylon material remains complete in construction- minimal degree of overall wear. Manufacturers label with date appears intact. Original owner Force Number - has been inscribed and remains legible. Press Studs are delicate and should not be engaged for any purposes - and/or disassembly. All buckles and straps are present and functional, allowing for the groundsheet to be folded up securely.
This piece would have been utilised by SADF National Servicemen, whilst operating within the Republic- as well as - in SWA/ Angola. The Groundsheet would be issued for field operations and general Shelter requirements.
