Steel Shell appears smooth in appearance- scratches and exposed areas may be noted. Helmet has been exposed to combat / varying environmental conditions.

An EXCELLENT example of Border War, 1980s SADF Bi-Tonal Camouflage Painted Steel Helmet w/ Plastic Liner. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Camouflage Design Relief on obverse and reverse. All necessary Nutria & Green colours are present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Steel Shell remains in good order - smooth finish. A degree of paint loss will be noted , due to field handling. The Plastic Liner suspension system will display an appropriate level if wear due to age and extensive usage in combat conditions. It is necessary be NOTED - ONLY ONE WEBBING RETENTION CHIN-STRAP REMAINS INTACT , THE OTHER SEGMENT CAN BE REPLACED.
This piece would have been subject to Camouflage Paint scheme application by the original owner - either at the Training Depot , or appropriate facility within the Operational Area of SWA/ Angola. The usage of Camouflage Paint-schemes was not a common occurrence; with Hessian & Hemp-based Netting bring the preferred medium.
