Striking Minichamps model of the 1977 Brabham BT45B decked out in revised Martini livery. Limited Edition 780 pieces world wide.
Driven by John Watson after the death of Carlos Pace in a plane accident. Watson finished second at the British Grand Prix in 1977 in this car.
The BT45 followed on from the beautiful BT44 and was also designed by the South African, Gordon Murray. It was brutally beautiful unlike the BT44 which was petite and charming.
It was the first Brabham to have the powerful and smooth (albeit a bit unreliable and heavy) Alfa Romeo Flat12 engine. It was raced in various forms from 1976 1978 and, although it did not win a race, it was competitive and scored a number of podiums.
Ground effects were just being discovered in F1 and the Brabham was fitted with side skirts in a bid to emulate Lotus.
In as-new condition, this is a popular and desirable addition to any collection. Supplied in its original and perfect box still in its clear sleeve.
From my private collection.
