Lovely Spark model of the exceptional Brabham BT24 which won the 1967 F1 World Championship in the hands of Denny Hulme. Finished off in national Australian Green and Gold colours.
The BT24's similar predecessor had won the 1966 Championship driven by Jack Brabham himself.
In 1966 when Formula One embraced 3-litre engines, the tiny eponymously named team developed their Formula Two car for F1. This was the last space-frame F1 car flying in the face of the change to monocoque construction. . This car was light, simple and agile and was fitted with an Australian designed engine based on the Oldsmobile road engine developed by Repco.
The car was not the most powerful nor quickest but it was frugal, reliable and nimble and picked up enough wins and placings to win the championship (twice!) against all odds. A truly amazing and unique result unlikely to ever be repeated.
In as new condition and supplied in the original box also mint. Difficult and expensive to find anywhere now.
Imported and from my private collection. More interesting F1 cars to follow.
