Mozambique has at last emerged from years of civil war to draw visitors back to its 2500 km coastline and the attractive Portuguese colonial towns of Maputo and Beira. Once a major trading nation, the country is now developing a reputation for pristine beaches, excellent diving and game fishing. Inland, however, progress is slow and facilities for the traveller await redevelopment, making Mozambique one of Africa's highspots for the truly adventurous.
In the Bradt Guide to Mozambique, renowned Africa expert Philip Briggs explains where to go and how to get around - not just in the relative comfort of the south but in the extremely remote regions of the north, where visitors are rare and on-the-spot information virtually non-existent.
