This is a genuine piece, made by Martindale of Alma Street Works out of Sheffield England. The Company had an excellent reputation for making machetes. I think they moved premises later and took over the excellent Robert mole of birmingham in 1920 but you can check online. The brass hilt is original, though not usual for a machete.The crocodile trademark was registered in 1878 or so and was associated with exports to West Africa and French Colonies.
