Fascinating Minichamps World Champions Collection model of the 2009 Formula 1 championship winning Brawn BGP001 driven by Jenson Button.
Brawn accumulated sponsors over that successful year and this model represents the final iteration at the year-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
This championship is unique and strange in the history of F1. Ross Brawn bought the Honda F1 team at the end of 2008 when Honda pulled out and renamed it Brawn GP. Brawn then managed to scrounge engines from Mercedes for the 2009 season!
The car had effectively been designed and paid for by Honda but proceeded to be a ground-breaking design which won the 2009 Championship against all expectations. Honda must have felt sick seeing they claimed no credit!
Button won 6 of the first 8 races before other teams improved but had done enough to win the championship. Mercedes snapped up Brawn GP at the end of 2009 to form their new F1 team. Brawn therefore existed for a single season and made three cars before disappearing - a truly amazing story.
Fun fact the BGP001 was painted silver and passed off as a Mercedes F1 car initially....
Rare and collectible now. In as-new condition and supplied in its original box also mint.
