The Brazilian Giant Black and White Tarantula (Acanthoscurria brocklehursti) is an extremely large species of spider known to reach leg span's of up to 9 inches. It is a terrestrial species that can be found in the forests of South America but predominantly Brazil. A. brocklehursti is known for it's aggressive eating habits and vibrant colouration. This species is aggressive and especially large and is therefore not recommended for beginners.

Feeding a Brazilian Giant Black and White Tarantula

Spiderlings will eat pinhead crickets, and other small insects. Adults eat crickets, other large insects, small lizards, pinkie mice, and an occasional fuzzy mouse every few months.

Caging Requirements for a Brazilian Giant Black and White Tarantula

Housing/Habitat: This is a terrestrial species of tarantula so it will not burrow the way some other tarantulas do, hence floor space is more important than height, and a deep substrate of sphagnum moss or coconut fibre should be provided. A good retreat is required to make it feel more secure during moulting. Due to their large size you may feel more comfortable keeping it in a larger tank than you would other species, and the more floor space you provide, the better it is for your pet.
