The book is clearly the result of a lifetime of research and synthesizing a whole variety of academic approaches (history, sociology, military history, religion, economics, natural resource use, etc) to come up with an interpretation that does seem to fit the patterns of human history and possibly predict the future trajectory (always risky).
I strongly recommend reading this book for a quick review of history, current events and future predictions, plotted against a well argued theory of empire cycles. Some of the predictions seem obvious, such as: rate of population growth plotted against arable land, food production projections and increasing desertification predicts increasing food shortages. Some predictions seem less obvious, such as predictions that unless the world understands human patterns as the author does and then takes action to change the course of history, the whole earth will go the way of Easter Island (deforestation, denuding, and extinction of humans). If the author is right, then everybody needs to read this book right now before it's too late. And if he's not quite right, then I'd like everybody to read this book so we can discuss it and figure out what IS going on and what to do about it (and... the all important question, what should I do with my 401k ....)
Breaking the Code of History. is the playbook for understanding how our world reached this point in time. Additionally, it then projects forward in time making a range of concerning predictions for the next decade. Specifically, this is the story of humanity's manifestation of a sequence of civilizations that have reached the limit of their potential to expand, if we remain unconscious of the destructiveness of our repetitive behavioral patterns. Most importantly, David presents his evidence using a very advanced model, that humanity is approaching the critical time where the human race faces a choice between catastrophe or Consciousness. The foundation of his thesis is based on his incredibly incisive work which models the Five Stages of Empire. I absolutely recommend that you not only read , but also study the groundbreaking book.
