The Bridge is a critically acclaimed and award winning Danish-Swedish co-produced crime drama series that has spawned multiple re-makes across the globe.
Season One
Sofia Helin stars as the iconic Swedish police detective Saga Norn who is forced to work with Danish counterpart Martin Rohde, (Kim Bodnia) when a body, cut in half at the waist, is discovered in the middle of the resund Bridge, which connects Copenhagen with Malm, placed precisely on the border between the two countries.
The investigation quickly escalates as a journalist, whose car was used in the crime, begins receiving phone calls. The caller, who becomes known as the "Truth Terrorist", claims to be committing crimes in order to draw attention to various social problems. After the killer has murdered several people, his true motivation begins to seem far more personal in nature.
The socially-challenged Norn develops a close, if often awkward, bond with Rohde but has to make some tough decisions along the way that dramatically affect their relationship.
Season Two
A coastal tanker leaves the resund waterway and is headed straight for the resund Bridge. When the Coast Guard board the ship they discover there is no crew, and three Swedish and two Danish youths are chained below deck. Saga Norn, County Police, Malm, is put in charge of the case and once again teams up with Denmark s Martin Rohde to forge a joint investigation.
Soon it turns out the chained youths were only just the beginning... Someone wants to direct attention to climate change and the use of the planet's precious resources, and will stop at nothing to do so. It all turns into a race against the clock to prevent a disaster where many lives are at stake...
Season Three
When a female body is found on a construction site in Malm, Sweden posed in a tableau representing a traditional family Saga once again partners-up with a Danish officer, this time the emotionally troubled Henrik Sabroe (Thure Lindhardt), a man traumatised by loss.
Together they unravel a series of spectacular murders that eventually become personal for Saga, whose downward spiralling mental state begins to take its toll on her self-belief, as she comes to the realisation that her colleagues are also beginning to question her abilities.
Season Four
Saga and Henrik are brought together once again to solve a series of macabre and gruesome murders that start when a high-ranking government officer, the director general of the Immigration Service, is stoned to death. Increasingly, it appears that the murders have a personal connection with the Danish police team that Henrik is at the very centre of.
In the midst of this fraught and complex case, Saga tries to make sense of her deepening relationship with Henrik and becomes determined to demonstrate how much he means to her by solving, once and for all, the deep mystery from his past that has been haunting him.
