Hardcover first published 1953 by Routledge & Kegan Paul Limited. The price-clipped jacket is worn and marked, with chips and short tape-repaired tears to edges and spine. The black cloth boards with gilt titling are clean and square. Bookplate of Stuart Macpherson, past president of the Mountain Club of South Africa pasted to the inside front board. Loosely inserted is a letter to Stuart Macpherson dated H.M.S. Albion, 1959. Light tanning to endpapers, but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
