British East India, Gold 1 Mohur 1819 (Fame Shipwreck)

The Fame was a British East Indiaman, built in Calcutta. On June 14th 1822, while on her return voyage from Madras to England with a cargo of sundries and passengers, she was thrown on the rocks at Sea Point, by a strong North-Westerly storm, off Table Bay. The coin comes with its original certificate of authenticity and Bickels display wallet.
