Book Description: London: Cassell and Co, 1957, London, Hard Cover. Book Condition: VG+. Dust Jacket Condition: VG. Photos, Map (illustrator). Albert Guerisse was a doctor in the Belgian Army in the early days of WWII. When France fell he escaped to Britain and trained as a secret agent and sent to the south of France to assist escapees, under the name Pat O'Leary. By March 1943 he had established a wide ranging escape organisation but was betrayed. His account of his treatment by the Gestapo and experiences in Dachau concentration camp are harrowing even to read. After WWII he again served in the Belgian Army as medical officer and was again decorated for bravery there. 267 pages including index, 11 b/w photos, double page map. Black hard covers with silver spine titles, text block excellent. Colour art DJ has some loss to top of spine area - size in total less than half a matchbox.
