Please note - I am NOT a numismatist, but, from my research, I believe this coin is dated to Constantivs. My apologies, if I am wrong.

Constantivs II was the third son of Constantine the Great and became Augustus of the East from 337 to 361 AD. Shortly after the death of his father, he clashed with his brothers over the western provinces of the Roman Empire.  Eventually, in 340AD,  this led to the death of both brothers and Constantivs declared himself as sole ruler. During his reign, he launched successful onslaughts against the Germanic tribes between 354 and 357. Although ruthless in character, Constantivs proclaimed himself a Christian Roman Emperor and concentrated on promoting Christianity over Roman paganism.

The coin shown above was found by metal detecting in Britain. It is bronze and measures roughly 17mm in diameter. It depicts the Emperor, and, on the reverse, a soldier with a captive. Being roughly 1600 years old, you can expect that there is some major wear, which is reflected in the rough surface of the coin.

This is a 'Hammered" coin - Hammered coins were produced by placing a thin sheet of metal, either gold, silver, bronze or copper, between two dies, and striking the top die as to create an image on each side.

The seller was fantastic - he called to let me know it was on its way, and replied to my son's email asking for more info after we received the coin.
