COMMEMORATING THE DEATH OF THE FIRST GERMAN EMPEROR WILLIAM I (WILHELM I) ON 9th MARCH 1888, A HEAVY ANTIQUE CAST BRONZE DECORATIVE WALL / CABINET PLATE DESIGNED WITH AN EMBOSSES GARLAND OF LEAVES AND BERRIES AROUND THE RIM AND A SIDE PROFILE OF KING (EMPEROR) WILHELM I IN THE CENTER.   THE GERMAN WORDS -"ICH HABE KEINE ZEIT MUDE ZU SEIN - 9 MARZ 1888" EMBOSSED WITHIN A BAND AROUND THE VERGE.   THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THIS SENTENCE IS - "I HAVE NO TIME TO BE TIRED"

WILLIAM I (WILHELM I), OF THE HOUSE OF HOHENZOLLERN WAS THE KING OF PRUSSIA (2 JAN 1861 - 9 MARCH 1888) AND THE FIRST GERMAN EMPEROR (18 JAN 1871 - 9 MARCH 1888).   UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF WILLIAM AND HIS CHANCELLOR OTTO VON BISMARCK, PRUSSIA ACHIEVED THE UNIFICATION OF GERMANY AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE GERMAN EMPIRE.    THE LAST HOURS BEFORE HIS DEATH ON 9th MARCH 1888 WERE EXPENDED IN ROYAL MONOLOGUES ON FOREIGN POLICY, AND THE DYING MONARCH REJECTED SUGGESTIONS THAT HE REST WITH THE IRONIC WORDS - "I HAVE NO TIME TO BE TIRED NOW"

THE PLATE IS ALSO FITTED WITH THE ORIGINAL BRONZE RING AT THE BACK FOR IT TO BE DISPLAYED.   THE ITEM COMES WITH A DOUBLE A4 PRINTED PAPERWORK RE - ALL OF THE ABOVE

STAMPS/MARKS ETC : THE BACK OF THE PLATE IS INSCRIBED - "MUSTERSCHUTZ"   (REGISTERED)

CONDITION : THE ITEM IS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH NO PATINA, DAMAGES, DENTS ETC

SIZE : 1.7cm HEIGHT OF RIM.....12,5cm DIAMETER OF BASE.....23cm DIAMETER OF RIM
